Why is this used, battered and rusty dog kennel worth around US$250,000?

NEWS AND COMMENT-COSTA RICA: This is a rusty old, run-down, dog kennel and it is expected to fetch between $200,000-$300,000 at auction because it was hit by a meteorite in between the size of a golf ball and a cricket ball. The meteorite slammed into the roof of the kennel on April 23, 2019. ‘Roky’, a German Shepherd, was in his little home at the time. He was not hit by the meteorite but startled. I wonder if the dog’s name has been misspelt. I’m guessing but it looks as though it should be Rocky. The spelling of the name comes from Christie’s auction house:

“On April 23, 2019 at 9:07 pm, a German Shephard [sic] named Roky experienced quite a fright. A meteorite, part of a shower of exotic stone meteorites loaded with organic compounds, crashed through his doghouse, barely missing him.”

They’ve also misspelled the name of the breed of the dog 😊. The kennel has been dismantled as you can see in the photograph below. Rocky, as I will call him, is a little bemused and perhaps upset because I’m going to guess and say that he was attached to that home 😉.

It seems that the valuation on the kennel comes from previous items sold at auction which had been hit by meteorites. A battered mailbox, damaged by a meteorite in Georgia was sold at auction in 2007 four $115,000.

Perhaps the best-known object impacted by meteorite occurred when one hit an old Chevy Malibu in 1992. A teenager bought it in Peekskill, New York for her grandmother for $550. The meteorite hit the trunk. A week later she sold the car for $96,000. In 2010 it changed hands again for $320,000.
