Leonardo DiCaprio’s good deeds to help animal welfare and conservation worldwide

What good deeds has Leonardo DiCaprio done to contribute to animal welfare on the planet? A lot is the answer and it seems to me that he committed himself to during his good deeds early on when he established the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation in 1998.

Here are just a few examples of Leonardo DiCaprio’s efforts to help animal welfare and conservation. He is concerned about raising awareness, generating funding and supporting initiatives aimed at protecting wildlife and their habitats.

Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation: as mentioned, he started the foundation in 1998. It is a non-profit organisation dedicated to protecting the Earth’s last wild places. Through the foundation he implements solutions to address climate change and environmental issues. So far it has supported numerous projects. It focuses on wildlife conservation and habitat preservation.

Tiger Conservation: he has been a vocal supporter of tiger conservation efforts. He donated $1 million to the World Wildlife Fund in 2010 for tiger conservation projects. He has used his platform to raise awareness about threats to the survival of the tiger in the wild and the importance to do all we can to protect them and improve their conservation.

Elephant Crisis Fund: DiCaprio has been involved in the fight against elephant poaching and the illegal ivory trade. He co-founded the Elephant Crisis Fund in working with the Save the Elephants organisation. The fund supports projects combating poaching, reducing the demand for ivory and improving efforts to stop the trafficking of these elephant body parts.

Rhinoceros Conservation: he has also demonstrated support for rhinoceros conservation in donating to organisations such as Save the Rhino International. He uses his social media presence to raise awareness about rhino poaching and the crisis the rhino is currently experiencing and the need to protect them.

Ocean Conservation: DiCaprio is an avid scuba diver. He is an ocean enthusiast and has been actively involved in marine conservation efforts. He has supported initiatives such as the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society and Oceana. They focus on protecting marine ecosystems and wildlife.

Documentary Films: he has produced and narrated documentary films focusing on environmental issues and animal welfare. A good example would be the film “The Ivory Game”, which informs people about the illegal ivory trade and its catastrophic impact on elephant populations.

Shark Conservation: DiCaprio has also been actively engaged in shark conservation efforts by supporting campaigns to ban shark finning which as you might know involves cutting off the dorsal fin of sharks while they are alive which causes them to die. He aims to raise awareness of this cruel practice and the impact that it has on marine ecosystems.

Environmental Activism: he’s been a prominent figure in the wider environmental movement and has spoken at international conferences. These include the United Nations Climate Summit. He has addressed the urgency of climate change and advocated sustainable solutions. He has supported and funded renewable energy projects, clean technology initiatives and sustainable practices.

Collaborations: DiCaprio has collaborated with numerous conservation organisations such as the Natural Resources Defence Council and the Rainforest Foundation. He does this to amplify their work and promote their causes.

Philanthropic Contributions: he has made significant financial contributions to various animal welfare and conservation causes. I’ve mentioned one above. He likes to support a wide range of work including conservation programs and research, anti-poaching efforts, restoration of habitats, work to combat climate change and deforestation.

As mentioned these are just a few examples of his efforts to improve animal welfare and to protect wild species. It would seem that very few high-profile celebrities do more in this regard.
