Brigitte Bardot slams Japan over anti-whaler’s alleged illegal arrest in Greenland (infographic)

The infographic below explains what is going on. Japan have allegedly been circumventing the protection of whales for years under the spurious declaration that they are involved in scientific research. Does anyone believe that when 1,000-2,000 tonnes of whale meat is consumed in Japan annually? No. But the whale meat business is ailing in Japan as the message that it is cruel and whales are endangered is getting through to the Japanese populus.

So, Japan’s whaling businesses built a mega whaling ship to revive the business and Paul Watson, a former Greenpeace director, was on the way to intercept the Kangei Maru to help protect whales in an act of direct action for which he is well-known. And it is no doubt a major reason why Brigitte Bardot loves the man.

It appears that Japan will do all they can – legal or illegal, moral or immoral – to stop Paul Watson. France is helping him as his organisation Sea Shepherd has a base in France.
