It is always useful to know the most pet-friendly states in the USA. This chart relates to 2020. Safewise.com produced the data in the image. They rank states based on the following information: percentage of pet-friendly apartments, pets-left in-car laws, pet population, veterinary reporting requirement laws, tether laws, animal fighting paraphernalia laws and anti-cruelty laws. They couldn’t include Hawaii or Alaska because there was insufficient data available. In Washington over half (55%) of apartments are pet-friendly. I take that to mean that the lease does not ban keeping a pet in an apartment. California, Oregon and Washington are all on the West Coast and rank in the top 10. Conversely, the 10 least pet-friendly states are (in descending order of the worst states i.e. New Mexico as the worst): New Mexico, South Carolina, Wyoming, Montana, New Jersey, Iowa, Kentucky, Georgia, New Hampshire and Connecticut.
