It’s unhelpful to categorise human sexual orientation

First point: this is about the animal-human relationship because it’s about the human-human relationship and humans are the human-animal ✔️. The second point is this: I believe that all the various sexual orientations that people have are normal. As they are normal there is no need to categorise them and pigeonhole people into these categories. It’s unhelpful and divisive to do it. It creates a debate where a debate need not occur. Yes, I know that this concept will upset many but please give it a chance and read on.

Sexual orientation is a spectrum

If we did away with the usual categorisation, which appears to be extended year by year, it would create greater harmony. It would help to reduce and ultimately eliminate prejudice.

Perhaps the longest list of categories is this: LGTBQIA2S+. It stands for: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and/or Questioning, Intersex, Asexual, Two-Spirit. You’ll see variations on this. It’s a list which tells us that there are countless affirmative ways in which people choose to self-identify.

But people only need to self-identify because currently, in the developed world, which is still developing, there is an unacceptance of the normalcy of the great spectrum of sexual orientations.

And therefore, people who are sexually orientated differently to the mainstream have to make a statement to obtain the rights that are due to them. In many parts of the world, they are not granted equal human rights due to prejudice. Due to ignorance. Due to a lack of human development and enlightenment.

But there will come a time when the world is more enlightened, perhaps a thousand years from now when there will be no categorisation of sexual orientation. Every type of orientation will be considered to be normal.

We don’t categorise prejudicially most areas of human difference. There is a wide range of human characters, but we don’t categorise those characters prejudicially. Although there is a sad tendency for humans to categorise people who are different or who they perceive as being different.

It’s about the mainstream which I mentioned above. Mainstream people tend to view outliers as different and when people are different they are potentially dangerous because they disturb the status quo. This is about an instinct for survival.

And if someone is different and therefore ‘dangerous’ (but not actually dangerous), they are given lesser human rights or they are criticised unjustly and persecuted. They are pushed out of society in order to protect the status quo within mainstream society.

This is all entirely wrong and immoral. It is a weakness in the human psyche. And humankind allows this weakness to function and show its ugly head.

We can bury it if we are more enlightened by agreeing that every type of sexual orientation is normal and natural. And it is. Let’s work on that.

I would like to add a little bit about the forthcoming World Cup in Qatar. Qatar is a country where they persecute gay men and women and any other person in that long list that I mentioned above. It’s due to their ignorance.

But they were given the World Cup illegally through corruption. Entirely the wrong place to have a football World Cup.

James Cleverley, the UK’s current Foreign Secretary, opened his not so clever mouth by saying that gay people should behave themselves when they watch the World Cup in Qatar. They should try and fit in with those obnoxious laws in that country.

I get the point. He’s trying to protect gay people from being arrested by Qatari police. But in saying what he did he is supporting these unjust laws and this unjust society. That’s not a good thing. He should have kept his mouth shut.

Gay people should be allowed to behave normally but respectfully in Qatar when travelling there to watch the World Cup. And it’ll be up to the Qatari authorities to respect them in return.
