Bosco lives in London with his human caregiver, Luccia Rodriguez, 24. She said that: “Carrying big sticks is Bosco’s favourite thing to do. He loves making people happy and thrives off the attention”. I guess that explains why he loves to do this. But it doesn’t explain everything because although it is natural for a dog to carry and chew on a stick, it does not explain why he feels the need to carry such a large stick 😊. This becomes amusing and highly noticeable because he’s such a small dog. The video is, indeed, very amusing and people get out of the way as his stick almost brushes against them. As expected, he has lots of fans on TikTok and this particular video is very popular too.
As you can see, as he walks past people, they get out their smart phones and start videoing him. He is very photogenic. Apparently, they clap as he passes. Elderly people particularly like him. His obsession with sticks started when he was six months old. He’s never stop loving them. It began after a storm when they were walking on a heath and Bosco spotted some branches which had been blown off the trees. He tried to pick one up.
Luccia immediately saw the potential for some nice videos particularly as he loves the attention from other people. Bosco does not like the stick to drag. He is a professional stick carrier.

You can imagine that on occasions he has difficulty getting such a large stick through small openings. Although he has been known to turn sideways and walk through. He’s a smart boy. If the video above stops working the one below will continue, I guarantee.
Here’s a bit more about why dogs like sticks. The experts say that they are alternatives to bones and as dogs are predators it is pleasurable to have a “bone” in their jaws. They also appear to be attracted to the shape and texture of sticks. And they enjoy the smell and taste.
One expert says that it also helps to clean their teeth and chewing on sticks is a fun activity. It exercises their jaws. Their natural instinct is to chew on sticks.
Dachshunds were originally bred in Germany and trained to hunt badgers.
