This is about what appears to be a badly treated horse that became very badly injured and developed a very bad infection in the left hind leg. The horse was sold for $50 to a slaughter holding facility and was destined for the knacker’s yard (it seems to me) where there’d be turned into glue or something. Essentially thrown away. “At worst, he’d be a tax write off” according to the TikTok video maker who rescued this horse.
She is a woman who works at Colby’s Crew Rescue in America. I don’t know the organisation and all but the woman who runs it is a horse whisperer and very tender with abused horses. Vulnerable horses that need rescuing and love.
And this horse, Shadow, desperately needed some love in the last days of his life. The horse whisper’s name is “Ally”. You can see in the video Shadow had been lying down in this barn four hours. When a horse lies down for hours it indicates that they are dying because according to the advice in the video a horse is only meant to lie down for about one hour. He refused to get up and had been slapped and pulled by the tail by workers but he still stayed down because he was very badly injured and in very bad pain.
For Ally, Shadow did stand up as you can see in the video. But he limped very painfully and was in great distress. He was badly dehydrated and given water by Ally.
As you can see also, he was badly emaciated. He had injuries to his fetlock in hock. He was in agony according to the video. She treated him with pain killers which allowed him to hobble more freely to a trailer where he was taken to a veterinarian.
In fact, I believe more than one veterinarian saw Shadow and decided that his injuries were catastrophic in his leg and they were unable to save him. Although it is not stated in subsequent videos as far as I can tell, he was humanely sent over the Rainbow Bridge.
The important message here is that during his last hours, days or perhaps a week or so of his life he was treated with great respect, dignity and with great tenderness and love. So, the last days or moments of his life were good and he deserved that.
All animals deserve our respect. At the very least. If you can do more such as love them and treat them with tenderness and as sentient beings then so much the better.
