Beehive theft is high in France due to bee numbers decreasing

In southern France, professional and amateur beekeepers cannot keep pace with the demand for their product because there has been a reduction in the number of bees due to pesticides, Asian hornets and global warming. This state of affairs has resulted in, apparently, beekeepers stealing beehives from each other. It is a dire state of affairs and in one region of southern France 157 hives were stolen in seven days over one month. Another beekeeper lost half her stock of 50 beehives in one night, all stolen. She is in shock and distressed because of all the work she has invested in her business.
