Captive and caged greyhounds in their kennels at Hemopet, an animal blood bank, greyhound rescue and adoption in Garden Grove on Tuesday, October 4, 2016. Hemopet has been trying to survive a veto by Gov. Brown of a bill that would have exempted it from paying taxes. Also, there are a couple of bills going through the Californian legislature which may close these businesses because they are considered to be inhumane but the blood from these greyhounds, who have a universal blood type, saves lives so a balanced law needs to be enacted. There are only two businesses in California providing canine blood and the one featured in this photograph is one of them. Please click on the link above the picture to read more on this.
