Philip Sleigh appeared to have had a reputation as an experienced pig farm in Aberdeenshire, Scotland but his reputation has been trashed when undercover footage showed his workers brutally killing piglets and pigs with a hammer causing unimaginable injuries and deep distress and pain contrary to animal welfare laws.
His farm has been delisted from a quality assurance scheme (QMS – he was a director of it!) and the supermarkets Tesco and Lidl have stopped buying his products.
He may be prosecuted. He should be prosecuted for animal cruelty under Scotland’s animal welfare laws.
There’s no question about it. He didn’t hit the animals himself but his workers did and therefore he is liable vicariously in my opinion.
At the moment any claims against him are made allegedly please note.
