Well, the first thing that comes to mind here – on the basis that this is a genuine kitten rescue – is that this guy has been and it seems continues to be amazingly generous in showering money on treatments for this blind kitten. He rescued the kitten and immediately dived in to finding ways to save the kitten’s eyesight which is wonderful.
Once you have rescued a cat or kitten it seems that you have to follow through and fix any health problems as you have taken on those responsibilities. And this nice guy has risen to the challenge without questioning it and is on a journey to see if he can restore the sight of this cute ginger tabby kitten.
If he fails it won’t be the end of the world as we all know that cats are amazingly adept at compensating for the loss of their eyesight in using their other senses: smell, hearing and touch (with whiskers as well).
As you can see in the video this kitten suffered what a high percentage of kittens without homes suffer from: eye infections. These are upper respiratory infections which affect the airways and the eyes causing conjunctivitis – secondary bacterial infections – and blindness as the bacteria ultimately destroys the eye. That’s why the vet prescribed antibiotics. But it might not work if the eye has been damaged by the bacteria.
I wish them both the best of luck. A upside or reward to this guy’s efforts is that the bond between them will grow and grow. It’ll be mightily strong and endure for the life of the cat. Rescuing cats often leads to stronger bonds between caregiver and cat than when purchasing a purebred cat in my opinion.
